Matmata

Matmata is a troglodyte village where shooting of the Star Wars picture took place and the patient Englishman as well. In summer, the inhabitants who live nowadays in european style houses change their dwelling to spend this period of the year in houses dug into the Earth to feel cool.

Matmata’yı anlatmanın en kısa yolu, Kapadokya benzeri bir yer demekle ifade edilebilir. Tek farkı, Kapadokya’da evler kayalara oyulmuş iken, burada, çölde oluşan tepelerin altı, ev olarak oyulmuştur. Ülkenin sahil kesimine, yaklaşık 200 km. uzaklıktadır
